Charlie Dore
Thursday 26th April
Charlie Dore is something special in the world of the singer/songwriter. Not only has she had a Big Hit herself (Pilot of The Airwaves) but she has consistently written great songs for others (including George Harrison, Tina Turner, Lisa Stansfield, and a No. 1 for Jimmy Nail). Charlie's lyrics are clever, witty, soulful, heartbreaking and mesmerising as she draws you into each story. Others come close but I don't know another songwriter of the same consistent quality. All this combined with being a lovely person with great stage presence, Charlie came to rothbury Roots solo last time but she'll be joined by multi-instrumentalist Julian Littman this time and her gig is simply not to be missed.
“Beautiful, existential, metaphysical and intruigingly other. Zen folk I want to call it... Charlie Dore’s ‘Time Out of Mind’.”
Ricky Ross, BBC Scotland
"A gift for melody …brave, poignant …entertaining and original"
